Art and Design
Year 5: L.S. Lowry Art Gallery - February 2024
Year 5 visited the Lowry in Salford on Tuesday 13th February. The children took part in an art workshop with a professional artist, working on skills that Lowry used in his masterpieces. We then put those skills to the test by sketching some of LS Lowry's paintings. Have a look at our busy learning...
Year 4: Christmas Crafts - December 2024
In Year 4 we have enjoyed carrying out a range of fun Christmas activities. We began by making some personalised Christmas baubles to sell at our Christmas Markets after school. We then made our Christmas calendars using the Pointillism technique, that we learnt in our Art topic this half term. We then used glittery thread to make our Christmas cards. We have been very creative and had lots of fun while carrying out these activities.
Year 2: Abstract Art and Cubism - February 2025
Year 2 have been looking at abstract art and cubism, exploring the work of Picasso and Paul Klee. We used Klee's painting 'Castle and Sun' from 1928 as inspiration for our artwork, printing geometric shapes using potatoes and carrots! We had a brilliant time!
Year 4: Banksy - November 2025
We have enjoyed learning all about the anonymous artist Banksy and creating our own artwork using his techniques and style. We experimented with a range of different textures to create interesting backgrounds, and we used different shading styles when drawing our designs. It was exciting to express our ideas and create art inspired by Banksy.
Reception: Polar Express Day - December 2025
The Reception and Year 1 children had a wonderful morning celebrating Christmas with their Polar Express Day! The children enjoyed dressing in their pyjamas, creating Christmas tree collages, decorating biscuits and cutting and sticking to make the Polar Express train!
Year 1: Polar Express Day - December 2025
Year 1 children had a wonderful morning making their Christmas cards earlier in the week, before joining Reception to celebrate Christmas with a special Polar Express Day. The children loved dressing in their pyjamas, creating Christmas tree collages, decorating biscuits, and cutting and sticking to make the Polar Express train together!
Year 3: Brilliant Buildings Topic - January 2025
The children have been learning all about Helen Bradley, a famous local artist. We learned about how she created a 3D effect when drawing buildings. We experimented with different sketching techniques and used different grades of pencils before sketching our own interpretation of one of Helen Bradley's pictures of Lees.
Year 1: World Book Day - March 2026
To celebrate World Book Day, the children created short paper chains of people. They decorated them in a range of shapes, sizes and colours, showing creativity and care. The children enjoyed joining their individual chains together to make one long, colourful class chain.
