As part of our Geography topic Year 3 enjoyed a walk to the River Medlock. The children spotted geographical features and enjoyed a game of pooh sticks on the bridge!

On Friday 3rd November, we went on a walk to Medlock Valley in Lees. We went to observe the human and physical features around us. We not only looked at these features, but discussed the impact that they can have on each other over time. We enjoyed looking at and spotting these features in our local environment, ready for us to move on to looking at human and physical features in different European countries.  

Year 3 have been learning about our local area during our Where in the World topic. We went a walk around Lees and were on the lookout for human and physical features. 

Year 5 and 6 enjoyed watching a play all about "Clean Air and Sustainable Travel". The play covered some serious issues but in an enjoyable way. The play was funny and some children were involved in some of the activities.

As part of our Geography topic, Year 6 completed fieldwork to observe, measure and record the human and physical features in the local area. In their next lesson, they then created sketch maps of the local area including the features that they had observed.

Year 5 applied their compass and map reading skills to a Geography field trip walk around the local area, looking at the different symbols they could see and find. We also discussed and applied prior learning to see physical and human features, as well as rural and urban features. We even compared a modern and Victorian maps to see how these features have changed over time and discussed some reasons why. Everyone took part and shared lots of ideas well. We had a lot of fun but were quite tired and hot by the end!
