Year 1: Place Value - January 2023

Year One have been learning all about place value in maths and how to represent numbers in different ways. They had a really tricky job this week when they had to make teen numbers using the tens and ones counters. They all tried so hard and did a brilliant job!

Year 2: Number Pairs - September 2024

Year 2 have been practising their maths skills playing Pairs. We looked at the pictures of the tens and ones and matched them to the number in words or digits.

Year 1: Number Lines - October 2024

Year 1 had lots of fun using number lines in our maths session, both to 10 and then a challenge to 20. They worked really well in their teams and completed it in record time.

Year 2: Ten Frames - December 2024

In maths, we have been adding and taking away using our number bond knowledge. We enjoyed using the ten frames to do our calculations in 2 steps.

Year 1: 3D Shapes - January 2025

Year 1 have been learning all about 3D shapes and their properties. We got the shapes out and explored them so that we could say their names and look at some of the properties.

Year 1: Doubling Ladybirds - February 2025

To consolidate our knowledge on doubling, in maths we created our own doubling ladybirds. We had to fold the ladybird picture in half before painting black fingerpaint dots on one side of the ladybird. When we folded the paper again, the dots doubled and we wrote number sentences underneath to show our understanding of doubling.

Year 1: 2D and 3D Shapes - January 2026

The children enjoyed exploring 2D and 3D shapes through printing activities. They used a variety of shapes to create repeating patterns, experimenting with shape, colour, and texture. The children showed great enthusiasm as they made their own pattern designs.

Year 5: Shapes - March 2025

This week year 5 have started their shape topic and have been exploring angles. We did a fun practical lesson measuring the angles on the tables using protractors! We hope Mr Spiller doesn't mind!
