Year 5: Make You Feel My Love - April 2023
After half term, Year 5 completed their Music topic 'Make You Feel My Love'. The children thoroughly enjoyed comparing different covers of this Adele classic, looking at the differences in genres, musical styles and dynamics. Year 5: Livin' On A Prayer - October 2023
Woah, we're halfway there, Woah, living in Year 5....
This week the children have been looking at this popular song by Bon Jovi. We've looked at the dynamics, pitch, timbre and tempo of Livin' on a Prayer as well as other songs in the rock genre. Year 5 then looked at notation, whilst composing in the style of Bon Jovi. Check out the action shots...
Year 1: Musical Instruments - January 2024
In DT we made a range of different instruments. We first designed our instruments and then made the instruments we designed and after all that we played our instruments and we also evaluated them to. Mr Wood, Mrs Douglas, Mrs Chambers and Miss Perrins where all super impressed with our skills.
Year 4: Musical Notation and Composition - April 2024
In Year Four, we have been working very hard on our music topic. We have been learning how to recognise different notes and place them on a stave, so that we can create a piece of music to play – Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. We worked very hard in small groups, ensuring that we all had an independent piece to play during our composition.
Year 4: 'Lean on Me' - January 2025
We have been working very hard on our Music Topic - Lean on Me. We started looking at the different names of musical notes - crotchet, minim, quavers and rest. We looked carefully at the number of beats each note held and then tried to put together a rhythmic score, which we had to clap together.
Year 4: Glockenspiels “Lean on Me” - December 2025
The children in Year 4 have been working incredibly hard, practising “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers on the glockenspiels. They have shown great focus and enthusiasm while learning to play the correct notes, and their dedication is really shining through in their performances.
Year 1: Reflect, Rewind and Replay - February 2026
The children explored a range of musical instruments and sounds as part of their music learning. They showed confidence and resilience when trying new instruments and rhythms and worked well together to experiment with different ways of making music.
Year 4: 'Lean on Me' Music to Create Mood - May 2026
The children have enjoyed our music topic this week. They listened carefully to the backing track for Lean on Me and worked together in groups to compose their own piece of music that created a chosen mood. They explored different instruments, rhythms, and sounds to match the feeling of the song, discussing ideas sensibly and supporting one another throughout the task. The children showed good listening skills by responding to the music and adapting their compositions to fit the backing track, demonstrating creativity, teamwork, and confidence in their musical choices.
