Religious Education
Year 1: Judaism - October 2024
Year 1 have been learning all about what it means to belong to a faith community this half term during our weekly RE lessons. In this session we were learning all about the Jewish faith and Shabbat. We said prayers, sang, told stories and shook hands before enjoying the bread and grape juice, trying to get an authentic feel for a Jewish Shabbat celebration.
Reception: Being Special - October 2024
The Reception children have been exploring R.E. through a range of different activities. Whilst learning about the topic, 'Being Special' the children learned how babies and children are welcomed into their families and shown love, through the religions of Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. They enjoyed learning through role play and creative activities.
Year 5: Jack will find HOPE! - November 2024
Year 5 completed their Class Collective Worship about this half term's Christian Value, Hope! In our worship, Captain Jack Sparrow went on a journey and learnt about different parables from the bible linked to Hope. Our children re-enacted lots of different stories and then linked it back to how Jack, as well as ourselves, can find Hope in the challenges we face in our own lives. A special mention has to go to our musical performers too. Well done Year 5!
Year 3: Linking Project and Easter Activities - April 2025
Year 3 hosted the Interfaith Linking Project, working alongside children from Roundthorn Academy. We listened to a talk about Christianity and Islam that was delivered by a Priest and Imam. We made comparisons between the two religions with a focus on identifying similarities. We liked that fact there were so many similarities! We then separated into two groups and worked with the Roundthorn children to develop our understanding of the Easter story. We made Easter wheels that re-tell the story and then used what we had learned to decorate crosses and cards. We finished the day off with a tour of our Church and an egg hunt that involved elements of the Easter story.
