Our Christian Vision
Inspired by St Paul’s teaching ‘You are all one in Christ’ (Galations 3:28)
We aspire for everyone in our school family to be accepted and be accepting, welcoming all. To be a community that treats others equally, with respect and kindness. To be aspirational, having hope and celebrating the value and purpose of our unique abilities. To love learning and to embrace new experiences and challenges with courage and creativity, as we become the best version of ourselves. We want to promote peace. To love and serve our diverse local and global community, making a difference for others.
Our Christian Values
Through the range of experiences we offer to all our pupils we encourage an understanding of the meaning and importance of faith and promote all the Christian Values.
We particularly focus on Respect, Hope, Love, Courage, Creativity and Peace.
These Christian values form the basis of our vision and are embedded throughout our school life and underpin all our teaching.
Creating our Vision and Mural
The Journey to our New School Christian Vision
Our School Christian Vision has been developed by our whole-school community, because it is for our whole-school community. The vision underpins everything we do and is lived out through the Christian Values that we promote.
The process began by asking children, families, staff and governors what they felt our school identity encapsulates and what we aspire to achieve together. We wanted to distil who we are: our unique context, the history of our school, the challenges we face together and what we are good at.
Once this information was collated, the responsibility lay with the Ethos Committee and leaders to shape and define a clear and distinctive vision. Together we identified the key values and characteristics that will guide us and explored the theological roots that ground and underpin it.
Ethos Day - Friday 18th October 2024
To help launch our new Christian Vision and values, we hosted a special Ethos Day. Throughout the day, children participated in a range of activities focused on the themes of creativity and prayer. The day culminated in an exhibition of craft and art work that was produced throughout the day and also as part of a home learning project. The centre piece for the exhibition was a new mural, created by our talented artists and the Fairy Godmother, which displays our new Christian Values and the scripture that underpins our vision. We welcomed family and friends from the community and church to our school hall to showcase all of our exciting creations.
Our School Aims
Our school aims encompass the aims of the School Development Plan and strive to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children. As a distinctly Christian school, we are committed to ensuring that everyone in our school family has the opportunity to flourish and realise their God-given potential.
Our Six Aims
- Standards - To ensure that each child achieves their highest standard and makes good progress in all areas of school life.
- Teaching and Learning - To provide pupils with high quality teaching in order to meet each child’s learning needs by means of a broad, balanced curriculum.
- Environment - To provide a secure, well resourced, high quality learning environment.
- Management - To support the work of the school by effective management of finance, curriculum, administration and personnel.
- Ethos; Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development (SMSC) - To create a happy, inclusive school culture in which to promote our children’s spiritual, moral and cultural development and in which all children feel valued.
- Partnership - To promote a mutually supportive learning partnership with governors/parents and to extend children’s skills and interests to the wider community. Parents of children with SEND will be kept informed of their child’s progress as outlined in the policy.
